AI won't replace everyone. But it will change everyone's workflow
The scary version says robots take the jobs. The real version is quieter, and it's already here.
The lesson
Spreadsheets didn't delete accountants. They deleted the adding-by-hand part, and made room for the advising part. That's the pattern to expect. The tasks inside your job will shuffle: the rote parts shrink, the judgment parts grow. The people at risk aren't the ones on some list of doomed professions. They're the ones, in every profession, who refuse to let the shuffle happen.
Try it — 60 seconds
Here's what I do for work. Which three of my weekly tasks could I hand to you today — and what does that free me up to do more of?
Copy it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini — whichever you already use. Fill in the brackets with your real life.
Watch out
Beware anyone selling certainty about jobs in ten years — in either direction. Watch your own workflow instead. It's telling the truth early.
