The best thing AI taught me had nothing to do with AI

After a year of these conversations, the biggest change wasn't in my work. It was in my questions.

The lesson

Talking to AI rewards a specific habit: asking clearly, then asking again. Say what you mean. Name what's missing. Wonder out loud. Do that every day and it stops being a technique and becomes a reflex. And reflexes follow you everywhere: into meetings, dinner tables, friendships. The machine taught me to ask. People got the benefit.

Try it — 60 seconds

What are three questions I should be asking about my week that I'm probably not asking? Be honest — and make one of them uncomfortable.

Copy it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini — whichever you already use. Fill in the brackets with your real life.

Watch out

If your questions only get sharper inside the chat window, you're leaving the best part behind. Practice on people too.
